QOYLLUR RIT’I = The Snow from the Stars – A Celebration in the Andes of Sacred Water from the Stars
(Other forms of writing: Qoylluriti, Qoyllur Riti, Coylluriti, Coyllur Riti)
Since the Ancient Times, Andean Communities have made this pilgrimage in order to bring Sacred Water from the blocks of ice on Apu Sinaqara, to their villages, as this is Medicine from Hanaj Pacha (The Upper World).
Although today this practice has merged with Christianity, we will share this Celebration of Sacred and Eternal Water (Snow) from the Stars together with our Brothers of the Q’ero community, who are the last heirs of the cultural legacy of the Incas.
The Pilgrimage to Qoyllur Rit’i is a commitment of the Heart.
PILGRIMAGE to the SACRED CELEBRATION of QOYLLUR RIT’I
From Tuesday May 22 to Wednesday May 31, 2018
PROGRAM:
- 1st Day: Tuesday May 22:
We meet in Qosqo (Cusco). Placement in Hostel. City Tour 1: Tour around the streets of the Sacred City, market, squares and places of cultural interest. Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night at Hostel.
- 2nd Day: Wednesday May 23:
City Tour 2: Visit to key places of the Sacred City, discovering their ancestral mysteries. Visit to the Qori K’anchay Ceremonial Centre of Astronomy. In the evening: Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night at Hostel.
- 3rd Day: Thursday May 24:
Half of the day free to visit museums, marketplaces, etc. In the afternoon: workshop “Andean Astronomy”. In the evening: Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night at Hostel.
- 4th Day: Friday May 25:
Q’ero Community: The preservers of the Andean Cultural Tradition. Sharing Wisdom with the Elders of the Q’ero, the last heirs of the cultural legacy of the Incas. Ceremony of Permission. Night in the Community.
- 5th Day: Saturday May 26:
Q’ero Community: The preservers of the Andean Cultural Tradition. Sharing the Living Experiences of the Q’ero. Service to the Community. Circle of Women. In the evening: Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night in the Community.
- 6th Day: Sunday May 27:
Travel to Mawayani (Mahuayani), the base for the ascent to the Celebration of Qoyllur Rit’i. Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night at Hostel or in tent in Mahuayani.
- 7th Day: Monday May 28:
Qoyllur Rit’i. Pilgrimage to the Celebration of the Snow from the Stars. In the evening: Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night in tent at the base of Sinakara mountain.
- 8th Day: Tuesday May 29:
Ceremony of Offering, Purification, Commitment and Gratitude to Apu Sinakara and Qolqe Punku mountain. Return to Qosqo (Cusco). In the evening: Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night at Hostel.
- 9th Day: Wednesday May 30:
Free day to visit museums, marketplaces, etc. In the afternoon/evening: Akullikuy Ceremony with Coca Leaves. Night at Hostel.
- 10th Day: Thursday May 31:
End of our Services.
OPTIONAL PROGRAM (1) “Course in Andean Medicine“: Wednesday May 23 and Thursday May 24:
Course in Andean Medicine: the Concept and Causes of Illness – the Medicinal Power of Air – The Healing System of the Q’ero Community, taught by a Paqo (Andean “Shaman” or “Priest”). Reading of Coca Leaves, Rituals, Healings, etc. Includes night at Hostel. End of our services.
OPTIONAL PROGRAM (2) “KARPAY Initiation Ceremony“: Wednesday May 30 and Thursday May 31:
We will organize a Karpay: an Initiation Ceremony to the Holy Way (Senda Sagrada) for those at the necessary level of Consciousness. Lead by a Paqo (Andean “Shaman” or “Priest”) from the Q’ero Community. In addition, it is possible to ask for a Reading of Coca Leaves, Rituals, Healings, etc. (optional). Includes night at Hostel. End of our services.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
- Duration: 9 (nine) days and 9 (nine) nights (from first meeting point to final farewell).
- Reciprocity: Reservation: is completed by paying: US$ 200 (two hundred dollars). In addition, you are to pay the Amount of: US$ 500 (five hundred dollars). Total: US$ 700 (seven hundred dollars). (Note the discounts for early Reservation, below).
- Includes: Breakfasts and Lunches (menu in vegetarian restaurant). Transport to all destinations starting from and until return to Cusco, accommodation and entrance tickets to programmed locations. Participation in programmed activities, guided by the Knowledge of your Andean Guide.
- Does not include: Local guides (optional), food, drink, tips, transport to Cusco from your place of origin at the beginning of the journey, and from Cusco to your place of origin at the end of the journey.
- Participants: All participants have to be at least 18 years old. Considering the characteristics of the journey (2 nights in the Q’ero community and 1 in a tent at the base of Sinakara, walks at 4200 metres over sea level), all participants should have an appropriate level of physical ability.
- Limited places: Only 10 participants. Once ten people have registered, the registration will close. If less than 8 participants register, the trip will be suspended (and costs of Registration returned). If the journey is organized, but a participant decides not to join, the costs of reservation will not be returned to them
- Making the Reservation: You should confirm your participation by paying the Reservation amount of US$ 200 (two hundred dollars), before Tuesday May 1. The persons who have not registered will NOT be able to participate. (Note the discounts for early Reservation, below).
- To Complete the Payment: The rest of the Reciprocity amount (US$ 500) will have to be paid in cash, on Tuesday May 22 (in Cusco).
- ATTENTION: This program may be modified, and the prices renewed at any given moment without previous notice.
- OPTIONAL PROGRAM (1) Course in Andean Medicine: Reciprocity: US$ 200 (two hundred dollars). The payment can be made at the start of the optional program.
